The seven stages, with the days KakoBuy gives each
KakoBuy delivery time is seven stages added together, and only the last one is the line you see quoted. Most of the waiting happens before the parcel leaves China, so a fast line cannot rescue a slow seller. The table lists each stage with the figure from KakoBuy's help centre or interface.
| # | Stage | Time stated | Who controls it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Purchase by KakoBuy | Buyers work 09:00–18:00 (UTC+8); priority purchase ¥5, processed within 4 h of buyer hours | You, by paying and choosing priority |
| 2 | Seller dispatch | Taobao sellers 3–7 days | The seller |
| 3 | Seller to warehouse | About 1 / 3 / 7 working days (Pearl River Delta / Yangtze River Delta / elsewhere) | Seller location |
| 4 | Arrival QC | Hours not published; 5-day return window after "Stocked in" | KakoBuy, then you |
| 5 | Rehearsal packing (optional) | Within 24 h; ¥20 per pop-up, ¥18 per an older help article | You |
| 6 | Parcel shipped, carrier pickup | Shipped within 24 h; pickup within 2 working days, none at weekends or public holidays | KakoBuy and carrier |
| 7 | Line transit | 2 to 45 days, depending on the line | The line you pick |
Stage 1 has no published duration outside priority purchase, and stage 4 is mostly your own decision time, so the totals below leave both out. The working hours page shows when buyers and support are on shift.
Stages 2, 3 and 6 are the ones with published days; stage 7 is the biggest swing.
Days by country: fast case and slow case
To make the stages comparable, we built two cases from KakoBuy's own numbers. The fast case is a Pearl River Delta seller: 3 days dispatch, 1 working day to Xiamen and 1 day to ship, which is 5 days (pickup assumed instant), then the fastest line KakoBuy listed. The slow case is a remote seller: 7 days dispatch, 7 working days to Xiamen, 1 day to ship and 2 working days for pickup, which is 17 days, then the cheapest line listed at 1,000 g. We add working days as if they were calendar days, so weekends push real dates later.
| Destination | Fastest listed line (transit) | Cheapest listed line (transit) | Fast case total | Slow case total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States | HK UPS (2–6) | Cosmetics Air Express (11–17); USPS Tax-Free Line (7–13) | 7–11 | 24–30 |
| Germany | Europe Tariffless Line -K (7–12) | Europe DHL Line, Express (8–12) | 12–17 | 25–29 |
| Spain | EU Special Line – Spain (7–12) | Europe Tariffless Line -K (9–15) | 12–17 | 26–32 |
| United Kingdom | UK Line-B (5–12) | UK HG dedicated line PT (7–19) | 10–17 | 24–36 |
| Canada | Canada HD Line-electrified (4–10) | Canada Sea Packet-F (35–45); Canada HD Line (7–18) | 9–15 | 24–35 by air; 52–62 by sea |
The US slow case uses USPS Tax-Free Line, the cheapest US line labelled tax-free. For Canada the air line is shown first. Prices and full line lists sit on the shipping page.
Slow case before the line: 7 + 7 + 1 + 2 = 17 days
Add the line: 17 + 7 = 24 days and 17 + 19 = 36 days
Fast case with UK Line-B (5–12): 3 + 1 + 1 = 5 days, then 5 + 5 = 10 and 5 + 12 = 17 days
Result: 10 to 17 days at best, 24 to 36 days at worst, a gap of 19 days between the two.
Expect roughly one and a half to five weeks; the same line can finish in 10 days or 36 depending on the seller.
What other people have measured
rep.tools, a third-party site that says it earns an affiliate commission from KakoBuy, published measured delivery times in July 2026. For its 69 Canada orders the median was 14.5 days door to door. Across agents it reported windows of 12 to 19 days for the US, 7 to 16 for the UK and 12 to 24 for Germany.
These sit between our two cases, nearer the fast one. The sample is not a random draw of all KakoBuy parcels. Treat them as a sanity check, not a guarantee.
Third-party figures land in the fast half of our range; plan for the middle.
What adds days
Five things push an order toward the slow case.
- Weekends and public holidays. KakoBuy says its carrier does not collect on either, and the 2-working-day pickup rule only counts working days. Check the Chinese public-holiday calendar before submitting a parcel.
- Remote sellers. The 7-working-day leg applies to areas outside the two river deltas, which is the single largest swing in the pre-line stages.
- Customs holds. Insurance exclusions name customs inspections, which suggests holds happen; no hold length is published. Each country page, such as the US one, covers local duty rules.
- Battery and liquid lines. Lines that accept batteries or liquids, such as Cosmetics Air Express, are listed with longer ranges on some routes (11 to 17 days to the US against 7 to 13 on USPS Tax-Free Line).
- Waiting for the rest of the haul. Free storage lasts 100 days, so a parcel can sit for months by choice. See the storage page.
Holidays, remote sellers and your own batching add the most days.
What you can do to save time
- Pay for priority purchase on time-sensitive orders. It costs ¥5 and cuts stage 1 to 4 hours of buyer time.
- Prefer Pearl River Delta sellers when two sellers list the same item at similar prices. Help article 82 gives 1 working day against 7 for other areas, so the seller's city can save up to 6 working days. KakoBuy does not tell you the seller's region, so this is our reading of that article, not an official tip.
- Skip rehearsal packing if you do not need the exact weight. It adds up to 24 hours and ¥20; the rehearsal packing page explains when it pays off.
- Pick a faster line only after comparing days and price in the shipping calculator. HK UPS to the US lists 2 to 6 days at $49.79 for 1 kg, against 7 to 13 days at $39.28 on USPS Tax-Free Line.
Submitting on a Monday or Tuesday avoids the weekend gap. After shipping, the order status page explains tracking words so a normal pause is not mistaken for a loss.
A $10 faster line saves about 5 to 7 days; a better seller can save more for free.
Delay insurance in time terms
Kako Insurance is bought when you submit a parcel. Its delay cover pays 20% of the shipping fee if the parcel takes more than 30 or 40 days from shipment, depending on the route. The clock starts at shipment, so the 5 to 17 days before it never count. By the estimator ranges, only Canada sea lines (35 to 45 days) reach 30 days.
The payout is small: 20% of a $23.70 Germany parcel is $4.74. Customs inspections and force majeure are excluded. The insurance page covers claims in full.
Delay cover pays little, and only after day 30 or 40 from shipment.
Questions buyers ask
How long does KakoBuy take to ship an order?
Two different clocks apply. KakoBuy says that after you pay a parcel it ships within 24 hours and the carrier collects within 2 working days. Before that, a Taobao seller needs 3 to 7 days to dispatch and the item needs 1, 3 or 7 working days to reach Xiamen. Adding those stages, working days counted as calendar days, gives 5 to 17 days before the line starts.
How long does KakoBuy take to ship to the warehouse?
KakoBuy's help centre gives about 1 working day from the Pearl River Delta, about 3 from the Yangtze River Delta and about 7 from other areas, counted after the seller has dispatched. A Taobao seller dispatches in 3 to 7 days first, so a remote seller can take up to 14 days before the item is even shelved in Xiamen.
Is KakoBuy delivery faster on weekdays?
Pickup is. KakoBuy says the carrier collects within 2 working days of your parcel submission and does not collect on weekends or public holidays. A parcel paid on a Friday afternoon can therefore wait until Monday or Tuesday, which adds up to 4 calendar days (Friday to Tuesday) before the line starts. Submit early in the week when you can.
Does paying for priority purchase make the whole order faster?
Only the first stage. Priority purchase costs ¥5 per order and KakoBuy says it is processed within 4 hours of buyer working time (09:00 to 18:00, UTC+8). It does not shorten the seller's 3 to 7 day dispatch, the trip to Xiamen or the line. It may help most when you buy late in the day or a limited item is moving.
What do other people measure for KakoBuy delivery?
rep.tools, which says it earns a KakoBuy affiliate commission, reported a 14.5-day median door to door for its 69 Canada orders in July 2026, with cross-agent windows of 12 to 19 days for the US, 7 to 16 for the UK and 12 to 24 for Germany. Those are measurements, not promises, and they cover agents generally.
When does KakoBuy delay insurance pay?
Kako Insurance's delay cover pays 20% of the shipping fee if a parcel takes more than 30 or 40 days from shipment, depending on the route; KakoBuy does not list which route gets which here. On a $23.70 Germany parcel that is $4.74. It does not cover customs inspections or force majeure, so read the terms before buying it.
